Ambassador Tony Leon for South Africa in Argentina met with Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and together they discussed the potential that exists for the Seychelles in Argentina, Brazil, and in South America proper.
Ambassador Tony Leon was, before his posting as the South African Ambassador, the Leader of the D.A. (Democratic Alliance) party in South Africa. He was the official leader of the opposition, but for the last four years, he has been the face of South Africa in Argentina.
The South African Ambassador confirmed that there was real tourism potential in South America for islands like the Seychelles. “Their spending power is well known in South Africa, and the add-on option to include Seychelles is a great approach,” the South Africa Ambassador said.
At Explore South Africa 2012, David Germain, the Director of the Seychelles Tourism Board for Africa and the Americas, has confirmed that he has secured not only commitments from tour operators, but also a group for April 2013 that are now holding bookings with South African Airways to do a South Africa and Seychelles combined holiday.
Seychelles is a founding member of the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP).
