Air France will resume its direct flights from Paris to Manila on the 8th of December after a 20-year hiatus. This move will boost tourism revenues and increase the number French tourists arriving in the Philippines.

The resumption could also be a sign that other European carriers will resume non-stop, direct flights to the Southeast Asian country.

Opening Doors

Christina Frasco, Philippine tourism secretary, expressed her optimism that the resumption by Air France of direct flights to Manila would encourage other European flag carriers to do the same.

She said that the resumption of flights would make it easier for Filipinos to travel and provide them with the much-needed connectivity they need to Europe.

Frasco said:

“we are eager to welcome visitors from France and Europe who will discover the unique charm and warmth of Filipino hospitality and our rich cultural heritage.”

France isn’t the only European country working to boost travel to and from the Philippines. Italy is also working closely with the Philippine authorities to determine how direct flights could benefit both nations in terms of tourism, commerce and trade.
