Our museums and tourist attractions are also appreciated far beyond the city limits. For instance, the new visitor centre of St Bavo’s Cathedral was awarded silver by the jury of the Museums + Heritage Awards in the category International Exhibition of the Year.
Additionally, the Ghent University Museum (GUM) received a ‘Special Commendation’ during the European Museum of the Year Awards.
Those commendations are awarded to “museums that developed a new and innovative approach in specific aspects of their operations, from which other European museums can learn.”
