NEW DELHI, India – Kingfisher Airline’s troubles seem to be increasing by the day with the Vijay Mallya-promoted carrier declaring a partial lockout till Thursday even as it is facing the prospect of being grounded with the government warning that it will not allow any flight unless its safety is certified by an engineer.

The warning from civil aviation minister Ajit Singh came after engineers, pilots and some employees of the airline went on strike demanding pending salaries piling pressure on the airline.

While the cash-strapped carrier that had won a fresh reprieve from lenders only last week did not take any fresh bookings for Tuesday, by late in the evening the labour woes prompted it to declare a partial lockout.
