In the first week of March, the Berlin exhibition grounds will once again transform into the paramount gathering spot for the travel industry, signaling the imminent arrival of the world’s foremost industry think tank.

The ITB Berlin Convention 2024 will unite global experts from March 5 to 7. With the theme “Pioneer the Transition in Travel & Tourism. Together,” the convention will feature four live stages and 17 themed tracks during ITB Berlin. These platforms will foster dynamic discussions, covering various topics such as digitalization and the expanding use of artificial intelligence. Convention attendance is included in the trade visitor, exhibitor, and press tickets for ITB Berlin.

Top industry experts will provide firsthand news on the current challenges facing the airline and cruise sectors at the Carrier & Cruise Track event on March 5. This track will focus on global market trends, as well as the technological and legal challenges. Renowned speakers including Nadia Azale (NDC Change Management Director at AirFrance-KLM Group), Michele Francioni (Chief Energy Transition Officer at MSC Cruises S.A.), and Chris Ramm (Vice President Global Enterprise Airline Partners at Travelport) will share insights on industry developments and showcase best practices.

Glenn Fogel, the CEO of Booking Holdings, will deliver a presentation titled Leadership, Innovation and the Future of Travel as part of the Future Track. Another notable session is Engineering the Future: How GenAI and Microsoft Copilot bring a new Intelligence to Travel featuring Karim Bagga, the Engineering Group Manager for Travel & AI at Microsoft. Bagga will explore the potential of artificial intelligence in the industry. Stefan Ebener, Head of Customer Engineering at Google, will also discuss the significant topic of artificial intelligence in his presentation titled How GenAI is changing the Digital World – From Future Tech to Daily Business. Additionally, Dave Stephenson, the Chief Business Officer of Airbnb, will share insights on the booking platform’s current growth plans in his session entitled How Airbnb is unlocking new Opportunities for Growth.

The Responsible Tourism Track on March 7 will prioritize discussing the role of tourism in promoting biodiversity and climate justice. Through practical examples, sustainable solutions will be showcased. Distinguished speakers like Bruno Oberle (President World Resources Forum Association and Former Director General International Union for Conservation of Nature), Külli Kraner (Head of Tourism, Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications), and Ingo Burmester (CEO, DER Touristik) will present initiatives such as Pioneering the Transition towards Net Zero: Climate Footprints Unveiled to advance climate justice.
